The staff at A Kid’s Place often see the worst of what we can do to one another as human beings. We hear about the darkest of acts and the ugliest of secrets.

Brian, Todd, Karen and all of the Town Square Media staff through 28 Hours of Hope, highlight the best of what we have to offer one another - reaching out, embracing, giving help and offering hope.

The 28 Hours of Hope replenishes our spirits and helps us make a difference for abuse and neglected children in Northern Colorado.

There is nothing more rewarding than helping a child that has been abused, neglected or abandoned to find a secure and permanent home.

CASA of Weld County, offers a unique volunteer opportunity for ordinary citizens at least 21 years of age to make a difference in the life of a child. No special or legal background is required, just a genuine concern for children.

A Kid’s Place was founded in 1995 by the Weld County Child Abuse Coalition as the child abuse assessment center for Weld County.

In 1989, United Way of Weld County undertook a needs assessment to identify significant community health and human service problems within Weld County.  Gaps in service delivery and agency coordination in the child abuse arena were the most critical issues identified by this community-wide evaluation process.

The Weld County Child Abuse Coalition was formed under the auspices of United Way to create solutions to these needs.  Pilot projects of the Coalition would be formed as internal programs of United Way until they could be evaluated for effectiveness and then developed into separate non-profit agencies.  The Child Advocacy Center (CAC) and Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) programs are both such programs.

The CAC was formed in 1995 to reduce trauma to victims of child abuse by providing a multidisciplinary response in a neutral, child-friendly environment.

CASA of Weld County was created in 1997 to train community volunteers to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the court system and to advocate for timely case resolution.

In July of 2000, CASA merged with A Kid’s Place.  This merger enables us to provide a continuum of services to the abused and neglected children involved in the criminal and Dependency and Neglect court system.

A Kid's Place is dedicated to making a difference in the life of one kid at a time. Please learn about our children and consider helping our effort - somehow, someway, you can also make a difference.

Remember, our kids are the victims of circumstances not caused by them - they are the innocents who are caught-up in the court-system.

Please help ... it feels good!!!
